Inspired by the second video clip in Mark’s recent post, I decided to share some Last Supper parodies with you. There dozens of these on the Internet. Dan Savage has a page of these that he’s updated several times. I don’t intend to do that (with one exception noted at the end of the post); just google “last supper parodies” if you want to see more of these.
We’ll begin with the one that I captured from Mark’s blog, Mel Brooks Last Supper:

Next up is the Fast Food Mascots Last Supper:

The next one should warm the hearts (or pierce the feet) of all parents whose children love(d) Lego blocks:

This one should bring back memories for readers of The Spanish Inquisitor’s blog:

Next, we have the armchair philosopher’s favorite TV cartoon philosopher:

I’ll close with two science fiction parodies. The first is the science fiction series that sparked my initial interest in the genre:

Finally, my favorite recent science fiction series, Battlestar Galactica:

I was surprised that I couldn’t find a Star Trek Last Supper parody. That’s a project one of you graphic gurus can undertake. This assignment, should you decide to accept it, will be the only update of this post.

Very cool comparisons, Chappie!

What, you couldn’t put in the Red Sox Winning the World Series one?
Just an aside, does the Jack in the Box ‘thing’ give anyone else the willies?
Again, comedy to an atheist, blasphemy to a theist. Sigh.

Mark – Thanks, for both the compliment and the inspiration.
(((Billy))) – I come from a long line of loyal New York Yankees fans. How dare you suggest that I desecrate my blog with an image like this:

Well, it does have
Damonthe traitor sitting in the center, right? Then again, he’s leaving the Yankees (being put out to pasture, I guess) so I guess you’re right. You’d be better not to put it on your blog. My apologizes.(((Billy)))

er . . . “apologies.”
Sorry.

Larry – I nearly included the Happy Meal pic in the post. Would you believe me if I said that I foresaw that you would do it for me?
Didn’t think so.
The Sunday Heroes clip was new to me. Cute.

I’ve finally gotten around to re-watching season 1 of Battlestar Galactica so I could watch seasons 2-4. Great show! we’re on the 3rd disk of season 2, then onto Season 2.5. As soon as I saw Last Supper parodies the BSG one was the first one I thought of.

Mike – The deacon and I watched the entire BSG series over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. We watched one disk per night for I don’t know how many nights – probably close to two weeks. It’s a great series. You may enjoy this book, Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy. It’s one of the better ones I’ve read in the Blackwell Pop Culture and Philosophy series. I was disappointed with the Star Wars volume; the Harry Potter volume was okay, and the Batman one was pretty decent.

noreligion – I fixed it for you. Given the number of times people have had to fix links for me today (either two or three times), the least I can do is take a turn at lending a helping hand myself.

I’d like to see an Archie Bunker’s Last Supper. Or, how about a Gilligan’s Island one.

The Gilligan’s Island one sure puts a new spin on the walking on water crap.

… how about a Gilligan’s Island one.

The series finale of BSG was so bad, it turned the love I had for the show into utter contempt. There’s word that a BSG film may be made, yet it’ll have NOTHING to do with this recent fiasco.
Of course the movie to see is this. Who grew up with Star Blazers? YA-MA-TO!

Philly:
I enjoyed the first half of the BSG series finale pretty well; the last half was more than just a little bit schmaltzy. Still, it compares favorably to the worst series finale that I recall: Star Trek Deep Space Nine’s. That was my favorite Star Trek series and they killed it with an unbelievably gooey finish.
I’ve read about a possible BSG movie. Since the series finale left me with zero curiosity about how the settlement on Earth turns out, the writers will have to woo me back with a really interesting plot twist.
